OUR MINISTRIES

Get involved at Emmanuel.

Choir

Our choir provides special music on Sundays and practices Wednesday afternoons at 1 p.m.

Leap of Faith Dancers

We have a liturgical dance group who perform in worship on special occasions.  They are led by Jane Dubray and rehearse Wednesday afternoons at 2:30 p.m.

Intercessory Group

We have an active intercessory group that meets every Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. for prayer. At this time we still continue to meet via zoom.

Support Groups

We offer a support group for anyone affected by Mental Health disorders.  We meet upstairs in the Unity Room the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at

7 p.m.

Deacons

Our deacons assist Pastor Judy in caring for our congregation. They do home visits, help with transportation, organize meals when needed and take communion to those who are homebound. They also assist during worship by organizing liturgists and ushers and serving Communion.

Prayer Chain

We have a prayer chain that is organized by Mary Jo Fairbanks.

If you would like to participate by praying, or if you have a prayer request to send to the prayer chain, contact Mary Jo at:  mjfairbanks80@gmail.com or call her at: 315-769-7936.

Mission Team

Our mission team meets regularly and communicates to the congregation what people and projects we are supporting. Some of our ongoing giving supports children's homes in India, feeding those without food in Bangladesh and India, an organization helping the poor in India to obtain medical help and working for equality in those countries.  And, we have an outreach to folks who are in need of emergency assistance. We also support local food pantries and meal programs.

Outreach

We are active in ecumenical outreach and shared worship with other area churches, believing that Jesus really wants unity in His church.   Right now we are partnering to create a caring ministry for the Elders in our community.  It is called Fourth Coast Companions.  See Pastor Judy if you would like to get involved.

Justice Groups

We participate in groups that are working for justice here in America, like the Poor People's Campaign.  We are designated as an "Open and Affirming" Church and are strong advocates for LGBTQ rights.  Some of us are involved in work for racial justice.  We are also designated as a "WISE" Church - Welcoming, Inclusive, Supportive and Engaged with folks affected by Mental Health disorders.

Volunteerism

We have folks who give of themselves in a variety of ways.  Some of us provide transportation to others and provide food on occassion to those affected by illness.  We have an active partnership with the local schools.  As needs are identified, we try to help by getting the word out and seeking volunteers to help.

Social

We also love to get together and have fun: winter picnics at the Nature Center, Tea Parties, summer picnics along the river and game nights, to name a few.
