OTHER WAYS TO GIVE

CUSTOM CAMPAIGN AREA

We are always looking for ways to increase our RPM Fund.  This stands for Repairs and Preventative Maintenance Fund.  When we have unexpected repairs or need to replace big ticket items like furnace or kitchen appliances, it is helpful to have money already earmarked for that.

MEMORIAL GIFTS

Often, when a beloved member dies, the family will designate the church as one of the organizations that a gift in memory could be made.  We work with the family to use it in a way that would honor their family member and bless the church simultaneously.

LEGACY GIVING

Planned gifts enable individuals to support Emmanuel Congregational UCC even after their lifetime. It is a great way to create a meaningful legacy and help for generations to come.

There are several ways to structure your planned gift:

  • A bequest in your Will (no minimum)
  • A Charitable Gift Annuity (gift of $10,000+)
  • A Charitable Remainder Trust (gift of $50,000+)
  • Outright gifts of life insurance, an IRA, real estate or appreciated assets (no minimum)

Did you know that currently, tax law allows you to give a gift directly to the church from your IRA that is tax free.  In other words, if you have your IRA pay directly to the church, and it does not pass through your hands, you do not pay tax on it.

HOW WE USE YOUR GIFTS

ABOUT YOUR IMPACT

CHURCH IMPACT STATEMENT

Your generosity contributes to the long standing success of our community of faith and its on-going effort to be a faithful witness for Jesus Christ.  We continue the Christ's work by modeling  radical hospitality and standing with those who are marginalized. Our strong stance regarding social justice issues encourage others around us to do the same.  Your gifts allow our witness to this community to be more effective.

OUR CHURCH’S WIDER MISSION & SPECIAL MISSION OFFERINGS

Emmanuel Congregational UCC is a member of the United Church of Christ, and a portion of gifts help the Special Mission Offerings. These gifts sponsor vital ministries that bring hope to people in the U.S. and around the world.  Our church has identified four areas where critical human needs exist:

  • in places lacking health and educational resources and/or where disaster has struck
  • within systems of injustice which oppress daily life and opportunity
  • in the lives of church leaders without sufficient resources to live with dignity
  • in the nurture of youth and congregations just beginning their lives of faith

CHURCH NAME provides gifts to the following Special Mission Offerings:

OUR CHURCH’S WIDER MISSION

Basic Support (OCWM Basic)

OCWM Basic support enables associations, conferences, the national setting, and some of our affiliated partners to continue providing the care and services that are vital to the United Church of Christ.  OCWM Basic support is generally given at local churches, where the funds are then sent to their associations and conferences before being forwarded to the national offices in Cleveland.  (Individual donors are encouraged to give through their local churches for Our Church’s Wider Mission Basic Support.

STRENGTHEN THE CHURCH

(STC)

Strengthen the Church is a special mission offering to reimagine and build the future of the UCC. Shared at the conference and national levels, STC largely supports youth ministries and full-time leaders for new churches in parts of the country where the UCC does not have a strong presence. It also provides support for existing church’s new initiatives.

ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING

One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) works with international partners to provide sources of clean water, food, education and health care, small business micro-credit, advocacy and resettlement for refugees and displaced persons and emergency relief and rehabilitation. OGHS also supports domestic and international ministries for disaster preparedness and response.

NEIGHBORS IN NEED

Neighbors in Need supports ministries of justice and compassion throughout the United States, including the Council for American Indian Ministries (CAIM), justice and advocacy, and direct service projects supported by Justice and Local Church Ministries.

This offering is received on First Sunday of October as part of World Communion Sunday.

THE CHRISTMAS FUND

The Christmas Fund for the Veterans of the Cross and the Emergency Fund is a Special Mission Offering that congregations have been supporting for over 100 years.  The offering is administered through the United Church Board for Ministerial Assistance, the charitable arm of the Pension Boards.  Funds provide direct financial support to those who serve the church and are facing financial difficulties.  Active and retired clergy, lay employees, and their surviving spouses may be eligible for the Supplementation of Small Annuities, Supplementation of Health Premiums, Emergency Grants, and/or Christmas “Thank You” Gift Checks.

This offering is received on the Sunday before Christmas.
